#51 Gears Up for the Dickies 500 Near Marathon Headquarters in Texas
(ContentDesk) November 5, 2005 -- Stuart Kirby and the #51 Marathon Race Team is gearing up for this weekends Dickies 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas.
Marathon is headquartered just down the road in Houston, so Im excited to give a good performance as a thanks for all their support, said Kirby preparing for Thursdays practice and qualifying.
Theyve been tremendous sponsors.
????Treating this race as a sort of Marathon homecoming, Kirby and the rest of the team have something special planned.
Were unveiling a brand new car, explained team owner Joe Auer of Competitive Edge Motorsports (CEM).
This car and engine have tested very well, so were looking to put on a good show.
New Holland and American Eurocopter Come AboardIn addition to Marathon, CEM has announced two additional companies coming onboard for the weekend race.
The first is New Holland, a brand of CNH, a global leader in agriculture, construction equipment and financial services, which will have a decal located in front of the rear tire. The second is American Eurocopter, a company specializing in the manufacturing of helicopters with a plant in the Dallas area, which will have a decal on the lower rear quarter panel. We are certainly excited to have two great companies join us this weekend, Auer commented.
New Holland and American Eurocopter seem like a natural fit for our racing philosophy. Show Appearance in HoustonStuart Kirby will be signing autographs at the Marathon Headquarters on Monday, November 7th. The racecars, pit carts, tires, truck & hauler will all be there along with Kirby and crew chief Walter Giles.
The show begins at 11am and goes until 1pm. Come see NASCAR close up and meet driver Stuart Kirby.

Tips on choosing appropriate dynamometers
In order to set up a drag car or bike for peak performance, using loads of boost / nitrous or other modifications, the best thing to have is a suitable inertial chassis dynamometer. It needs to have big diameter clean drums, with a very good grip. Dual rollers are not appropriate in this case, so don’t use them!
The dynamometer should have powerful fans and airflow and an experienced operator.
A braked system is simply unsuitable for an application like this.
The dyno itself, along with plug readings, and experience would be the best way to set the car / bike up.
Gas analyzers are useless in these situations.
If your aim is to set up a stock or mildly tuned cars / bikes fuel injection system, or set up a carburetor systems jetting or ignition properly, you should find a decent braked system, maybe with twin rollers and with a good gas analyzer.
This is the best way to set up this kind of vehicles.
